13 year old Claudia is living temporarily in a tent with her mum, dad, 2 siblings & 2 chickens.
And 28 other people.
When Cyclone Ava struck in January, Claudia and her family lost their homes & everything but the clothes they were wearing.
After the floods, they went back to where their village had been to rescue what they could, but there was very little left. For Claudia and her family, a saucepan lid, some plastic flowers & some planks of wood which they will use again when they rebuild their house & their lives. When the flood waters rose – their fields were under 4 to 5m of water. Now they are under 3 to 4m of sand. Claudia & the other children used to work in the fields, but the only thing that will grow in the sand are sweet potatoes, something which they don’t have to plant.
Your donations bought this family, cooking utensils, salt, soap, oil, water purification kits and rice. Your prayers continue to bring comfort & hope. And hope, one man told us, hope is all you need.
