Fan blades are like the propellors on an aircraft – they throw the air backwards so the hovercraft goes forwards, and they push air into the skirt underneath the hovercraft to lift it up. River Rover Hovercraft really are “Air” craft, it’s just that they use it in a unique way, creating an air lubricated cushion that the vehicle sits on the glide along. The fan blades we use are made from Glass reinforced polyamide which is strong and light, but can be easily made, in fact these are just like the blades you might find in a building air conditioning system, or to move exhaust fumes out of a road tunnel. Simple, and effective.
