Our MMS in Ambatolahy, 2 days drive from Tana near the west coast of Madagascar, was a great success.
Our team carried out a record number of interventions, partly due to the unique benefit of having two rooms to do surgical operations simultaneously.
80% of the operations were complex, and sadly there are still 32 people waiting for operations who we were unable to help, 150 awaiting ophthalmology work, and a similar number for ultrasound tests.
There is much need in the area, as there are so few ongoing healthcare facilities.
This picture shows some of those people still awaiting operations. We are planning a return to Ambatolahy as soon as feasible.
The surgery team worked very hard to see all that needed treatment, but In the end it was the anaesthetics that ran short, and unfortunately both our anaesthetists, Olivier and Stanislas caught nasty infections and had to have infusions.

The most serious operation was on a woman who had surgery in 2021 (not via HoverAid / MMS) , but on that occasion the surgeons had not closed her abdominal wall well, so her intestines protruded through the wall.
